Iris Loonen graduated at the 'Koninklijke Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten'
in The Hague. Her specialty lies in the impersonation of themes at a narrative
way, and developing series. In this light she made a series about proverbs
and a series about fairytales, which are still being developed once more.
In many of her photos the fringe area between reality and fiction plays an
important role. The relationship of human or animal with nature is often alienated
or humoristic.
Iris solely works analogue because she prefers self – printed photos
above the digital ones. While photographing everything is being staged carefully,
because afterwards there isn’t any computers involved. Besides her work
as a free artist, she fulfils assignments for ‘Hollandse Hoogte’,
magazines, advertising agencies, individuals and companies.
